Tiny Hands, Big Builds: Assembling for the Future!
SPONSORED BY
OBJECTIVE
Students will explore the role of an Assembler I in Advanced Manufacturing by assembling a structured product using Brain Flakes. Working in pairs, they will practice fine motor skills, visual sequencing, and following detailed instructions to produce an identical, quality-controlled item.
FUTURE READY
Advanced manufacturing is one of the Central Coast’s fastest-growing industries, with companies like Trust Automation, Rantec, Bell-Everman, and Arrow Screw creating strong, reliable career pathways that do not require a four-year degree. These jobs offer local students real opportunities for economic mobility, but they depend on early-developing skills—precision, perseverance, spatial reasoning, and the ability to follow multi-step processes with care.
By giving 1st graders the chance to think and work like Assemblers, you are building these foundational skills in an age-appropriate, hands-on way while helping students see a thriving local industry they can someday be part of. This lesson shows young learners that they are capable builders and problem-solvers, planting seeds for future success in STEM learning and the advanced manufacturing careers available right here in their community.
